Configuration of a Channelized T3 Interface on a Cisco 10000 ESR
This section focuses on the configuration of a channelized T3 interface for a Cisco 10000 ESR. This expansion card is normally used for channelized applications, but it can be used in an unchannelized mode, if necessary. Each CT3 card has a total of six T3 ports, each denoted by a Tx and Rx pair of 75-ohm female BNC connectors.
This basic configuration gives you an idea of some of the things that you can configure on the card. For more information on the topology, refer to Figure 7-12.
The T3 controller is specified by a 0/0/0 naming convention, and a 4th level (0/0/0/X) specifies the T1 that you want to configure in channelized T3 mode. So 4/0/0/1 is the T3 controller located at 4/0/0, accessing the 1st T1 controller.
The first thing that needs to be done on the channelized T3 interface is to make sure that you have the proper framing, cable length, and timing source set up for the T3 circuit:
10K-ESR#config t
10K-ESR(config)#controller t3 4/0/0 10K-ESR(config-controller)#clock source line 10K-ESR(config-controller)#cablelength 150 10K-ESR(config-controller)#framing m23 10K-ESR(config-controller)#no shut
After you have made the proper modifications to the T3 controller, you can begin configuring each T1 controller within the T3 circuit. You can remain in T3 controller mode and configure the T1 circuits from there:

Now that you have set up the T1 interface, you can create a channel group. The channel-group command groups the DS0s in T1 #5 and creates a virtual serial interface that allows you to finish the Frame Relay configuration on that T1:
10K-ESR(config-controller)#t1 5 channel-group 1 timeslots 1-24 10K-ESR(config-controller)#exit 10K-ESR(config)#int s 4/0/0/5:1 10K-ESR(config-if)#encapsulation frame relay 10K-ESR(config-if)#ip address 10.21.13.7 255.255.255.0 10K-ESR(config-if)#encapsulation frame-relay ietf 10K-ESR(config-if)#frame-relay interface-dlci 70 10K-ESR(config-if)#frame-relay lmi-type q933a 10K-ESR(config-if)#no shut
This exercise is by no means exhaustive on what can be configured on this box, but it is meant to serve as an introduction to the types of commands that can be used.
