Example 838 Configuring BGP over Frame Relay

r1(config)#router bgp 65520 r1 (config-router)#network 192.168.8.0

r1(config-router)#neighbor 192.168.8.2 remote-as 65520 r1(config-router)#neighbor 192.168.8.4 remote-as 65520 r1(config-router)#neighbor 172.16.8.6 remote-as 65525

r1(config-router)#neighbor 192.168.8.2 next-hop-self r1(config-router)#neighbor 192.168.8.4 next-hop-self r1(config-router)#no synchronization r1 (config-router)#end r1#copy running-config startup-config r2#configure terminal r2(config)#router bgp 65520

r2(config-router)#neighbor 192.168.8.1 remote-as 65520

r2 (config-router)#end r2#copy running-config startup-config r4#configure terminal r4(config)#router bgp 6520

r4(config-router)#router bgp 65520 BGP is already running; AS is 6520 !!!oops I made a typo r4(config)#no router bgp 6520 r4(config)#router bgp 65520

r4(config-router)#neighbor 192.168.8.1 remote-as 65520

r4(config-router)#end r4#copy running-config startup-config r5#configure terminal r5(config)#router bgp 65525

r5(config-router)#neighbor 172.16.8.5 remote-as 65520

r5(config-router)#end r5#copy running-config startup-config

While setting up the BGP process, I mado a typso. Actually it ie a good way ro prove mat that while other routing proIocols ( such as OSPF and EIGRP) wMl run multif>le p|-ocesses, BGP will on ly run a single uro cesso It ts fin e to advertise the 192.1o8,8.0 nntwork without the mask statement because it is on the class boundary, and the manual neighbor statements are necessary because absolately nothing in BGP is automatic. In looking at Figure 8-13, r1 han tww IBG. peers (neignaors) and one EBGP peer (neighbor). The next-hop-self statement is needed for the IBGP peer to use r1 to get to the other AS because r1 has an interface in both autonomous systems. On nhe spoke routeps, nn 1 y the BGF3 frrocess and neigh bos state ments are con fig u rod.

F^erform hhe neighbon testing in Examp1 e 8-39. What TCP3 or BGP state are the neighbors in? Aire they receiving prefixes?
