Example 4-5 defines the explicit path to be the list of RIDs. If you wanted to use path 3, which specifies a particular link between RtrB and RtrD, you'd have to specify the link address rather than the router ID. The explicit path would be something like the output from the show ip explicit-paths name command, as demonstrated in Example 4-6.
