Cisco routers support three types of PPPoA connections:
■ Cisco proprietary PPPoA
■ The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF)'s Multiplex (MUX)-encapsulated PPPoA
■ The IETF's Logical Link Control (LLC)-encapsulated PPPoA
Configuring PPPoA involves almost the same tasks as configuring PPPoE. You still must set up the internal Ethernet interface, a dialer interface, PAT, DHCP, and a static default route. The main difference is in the configuration C
of the external interface. Because it is ATM, you need to configure virtual N
path identifier (VPI) and virtual circuit identifier (VCI) information to match I that of the provider. The type of ATM encapsulation must be specified, and C
the PPPoA enabled, and linked to the virtual dialer interface. A dialer pool is W associated with PVC, as shown in Example 2-7.
