SQL Slammer was a warning, Newer "Flash" worms are exponentially faster

The figure shows how much faster DoS and worm attacks are occurring. For example, SQL Slammer was able to saturate a GigabitEthernet link within one minute. Network administrators have less and less time to react to DoS and worm attacks before their networks become unavailable. Therefore, the network has to be designed to be self-defending by using tactics link Scavenger-Class QoS.
