One of the key elements for success in passing the CCIE exam is time management. A well-planned approach will go a long way in assisting you to achieve this. The elements of perfection and accuracy will come with much practice. Do not be discouraged if you have found the previous labs difficult. Your aim should be to move on through these exercises, making improvements in your approach and identifying areas of development.

Following the previous chapters, this lab is a multiprotocol, multitechnology exercise. You will be tested on all areas, and the degree of complexity in each lab is the same.

The topology is of a new design, and the VPN3000 Concentrator has been added to the scenario.

Again, you should aim to use the "Verification, Hints, and Troubleshooting Tips" section to build your troubleshooting skills and learn how to identify and resolve the problems.

The lab is marked out of 100. You must complete the lab within 8 hours and obtain a minimum of 80 marks to pass. As with all labs, this test has been written such that you should be able to complete all questions, including initial configuration (that is, IP addressing), within 8 hours, excluding cabling time. Allow up to 1 hour for cabling, using the provided instructions and observing the general guidelines. You can use any combination of routers as long as you fulfill the needs of the topology in Figure 3-1. It is not compulsory to use routers of the same model.

The real CCIE Lab does not require you to do any cabling or IP addressing. [ LiB ]
